Mission Young Rovers, popularly known in the Vuwani and Masia areas as Myros, rewarded the team's best players on Saturday.

Several players were awarded trophies and cash prizes for outstanding performances during the 2012/13 season. Five of the awarded players are Ernest Ntlemo (most disciplined player); Trevor Kharidzha (top goal scorer); Rendani Dzuguda (chairman's award); Gundo Kharidzha (rookie of the year) and Funanani Sinthumule (golden glove or best goalkeeper).

The overall prize of players' player of the year was awarded to Veli Tshishonga. The recipient was selected by the players themselves. "I want to thank my coach, parents and team mates, whose words of motivation help me focus on my steps and moves as a soccer player," said Tshishonga.

Mission Young Rovers was established in 1976. As for the previous soccer season, they ended in the second position in the Vho-Makhadzi Funeral Services' Stream B. They are participating under the auspices of the Makhado Football Association.

"The prizes are meant to motivate the boys to work harder," said the team's chairperson, Tshakhuma Kharidzha.

The event was made possible by the generous contributions of sponsors such as, among others, VP Electrical (R20 000), Roncon CC (R1 000) and Bvelela Engineering (R7 000).
