Several outstanding pupils from different grades at Eltivilas Primary School received certificates and trophies in recognition of their achievements in academics and extramural activities during an event at the school last Friday.
The principal of the school, Mr Johan Fick, said it had become important for the school to have such a special day at the school before learners started with their end-of-year examinations. "Our learners are failing and not because they do not know what they are writing about, but because they are not prepared for the examinations. Let us prepare them in advance," he said.
He said learners had to make informed decisions if they dreamed of making it successfully in life. He said the decision to make it in life lay with the individual learner.
"You either choose to make it or fail in life, but whatever unwise decision you make, will come back to haunt you later in life," she said.
Fick also encouraged the youth to pray for whatever they want in life.
"Today's youth is known to forget and to look down upon the power of prayer. Let us change all that and start believing that, with hard work and God, everything is possible," he said. He concluded by encouraging all learners to use their time profitably. "There is time for everything; allocate more time to your school work and you will get the best results at the end of the year," he said.
