Upcoming Xitsonga electro artist Nyikiwe Maswanganyi, known by his stage name of Rhuza, has captured the hearts of fans with his recently released song U Dyisiwini. Featuring popular artist Papa Rhulani, the collaboration adds a unique flavour to the track, giving it a distinctive groove and strong street appeal.
Since its release four weeks ago, U Dyisiwini has amassed over 100,000 views on YouTube and is receiving significant airplay on stations such as Munghana Lonene FM and GCR FM. The song reflects on reserved men at gigs who avoid interactions, appearing as if they fear their wives.
"Ninety-nine percent of the feedback has been positive, even from big artists like Benny Mayengani. I wrote and produced the song because I relate to its message. My fans see me as the next big thing in Xitsonga electro," said Rhuza.
Originally from Malamulele, Rhuza is not only a vocalist but also a skilled producer and sound engineer. He runs his own recording studio and works across multiple genres, including Xitsonga electro, ndzhumba, hip-hop/trap, and amapiano.
His music journey began in 2014 as an aspiring producer. In 2021, he released his first Amapiano track, Valava Piano, followed by the formation of the Maninginingini Crew in 2022. His 2023 debut album, Genesis, featured 22 tracks split between Xitsonga electro and amapiano.
In 2024, he released two EPs: Piano King yaka Gaza (amapiano) in March and God's Time is the Best Time in October. He has since signed with Sumthyn Music and, alongside artists such as Jeff Maluleke and Brian Bomba, plans to establish himself as a leading figure in Xitsonga electro with new singles and an upcoming EP.
"My inspiration comes from legends like Thomas Chauke and George Maluleke, who, like me, are from Malamulele. I believe our town should continue leading in Xitsonga music, and I'm proud to be part of that journey," he said.
