In Memoriam
It was with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Ridgeway and Sumbandila family in Louis Trichardt shared the news of the passing of one of their beloved members, Lynn Biggs (78).
"Lynn first became part of our lives in October 2011, and from that moment on, she was more than just a staff member — she was a mother, a grandmother, a confidante, and a source of unwavering support to both students and colleagues. Her generosity of spirit, her warmth, and her boundless love touched every person she encountered," the college community wrote in a tribute to her life.
On 1 June 2022, Lynn moved into the Sumbandila hostel, taking on a full-time role that she fulfilled with dedication and joy until her passing on Tuesday, 7 June. "During those years — and indeed from the very beginning — Lynn gave far more than was ever asked of her. Her presence was a blessing, her wisdom a guide, and her compassion a comfort to us all," said the college.
According to all who knew her, Lynn had an extraordinary gift for loving people deeply. She was a constant source of kindness, strength, and calm in the midst of the everyday challenges of school life. "Her belief in the afterlife was strong, and while we mourn her absence, we take solace in the knowledge that she is at peace. We also hold close the truth that love, once given so freely, never fades — and Lynn's love will remain with us always," said the college.
The Ridgeway and Sumbandila family expressed their heartfelt condolences to her children — Jacques, Colin, and Charmaine — and to her cherished grandchildren. "May they be comforted by the immense love and gratitude we all feel for Lynn's life and legacy," said the college.
"We adored you, Lynn. We are grateful beyond words for your life, your love, and the countless acts of quiet service you offered so humbly. You leave behind a legacy of compassion and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew you," the college concluded.
