A well-known young local entrepreneur and owner of Rinavho Funerals, Pfanelo Nelutswindi Matinya (30), passed away at the MediClinic in Polokwane on 20 July after a short illness.

His father, Mr Joseph Matinya, said that although his son's death was a great loss, he found comfort in knowing that Pfanelo had shared his business knowledge with the family while he was still alive. "He was seen as a light to the family and the nation at large," he said. He added that the family had been deeply humbled by the outpouring of love and support from the people of Limpopo.

Representing the funeral industry, Mr Kaizer Marindi of Marindi Funerals described Matinya as a "soldier" for much of his life. "He was one of those men who fought for development in the prime of his life and excelled at everything he did. He will be remembered for his dedication and tenacity as a businessman, and for his vision in education for young people," Marindi said. "We have lost one of our giants," he added.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, 27 July, at the Luvhalani Sun Shine Pirates Grounds, starting at 06:30. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at his home in Luvhalani, starting at 14:00.
