South Africa's RnB and rap scene is on the brink of a fresh wave of innovation, thanks to rising star Ndamulelo Nengovhela, better known as Hb Rap.
The 22-year-old Soweto-born rapper, now based in Brixton, is making waves with his unique blend of RnB and rap. His roots trace back to Musina, where he attended Makushu Primary School.
Over the past years, Hb Rap has released several singles, including the popular Ulwela, featuring Khustar RT (October 2024), Phanda with Peacemaker (February 2024), and most recently What I Feel, featuring Kyrie Wallace (January 2025).
Citing Blaq Diamond and Mizo Phyll as major influences, Hb Rap is set to release a highly anticipated EP titled Love Trauma on 10 August 2025. The project features collaborations with Skyrex, Ayaa, Tonnie Kaide, Eric, Peacemaker, and DJ YoungMusiQ.
"I roped in the best production teams, including Hb Rap Production, Sparkels World, Røllix Motion, YoungMusiQ, and DJ Blizz. This is the biggest project in my career so far," he said. "I am determined to make a big name and elevate the South African music landscape."
Hb Rap's musical journey began in 2017, inspired by friends at Makushu Primary School and musical films such as Let It Shine. Now also venturing into production, his versatility promises to take his career to new heights.
