Hilda Mudau from Handowa in the Nzhelele area is fast becoming one of the most exciting new voices on the Tshivenda music scene. She has once again captured the hearts of her fans with the release of her latest Afropop single, Fhano Ndivenda.
Released at the beginning of this month, the track is the first offering from her highly anticipated project of the same name. It has already received an overwhelmingly positive response, gaining traction on various music platforms and sparking conversations among music lovers.
Fhano Ndivenda has struck a chord with listeners, who praise its emotional depth and soulful melodies. Mudau said her musical journey had been shaped by African artists such as Malondolo.
Explaining why it had been some time since her last release, she said she was not interested in "quick bubble-gum music and a quick buck" but in creating songs that would endure. "Low-quality music comes and goes, but good music will last forever. I want to create something that will be listened to by many generations after we are gone."
Mudau also spoke out against music piracy, saying it robbed artists of their livelihoods and contributed to the industry's decline.
Despite the challenges, she manages to make a living through frequent bookings at smaller venues around the country. "Big promoters overlook us for major gigs, but we can make a living from the shows we have all over the country," she said.
