After an eight-year break from performing, gospel singer Rofhiwa Munyai has made a strong return with a new EP, titled Ri Tendele, recorded live in Polokwane and released on 20 March 2025. The project, produced under the Mukurob Music label, has been well received and is already dominating the airwaves.
Though he was away from the stage, the singer from Gaba outside Thohoyandou continued writing music. One of his songs, Mishumo ya Yehova, written for gospel star Tumi B, was nominated for Best Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year at the 2024 Tshivenda Music Awards (TSHIMA).
"Many people have given up in life, but with God, their time is not over. He can still open doors and do the impossible. Let's have faith," said Munyai.
His musical journey began in 2006 while in military training with the South African National Defence Force, where he often led songs to lift morale. He later served as a worship leader for five years.
Munyai's debut album, Our Father, was produced under Khano Music. He went on to release Ekhaya (2014), Mudzimu ha Balelwi (2015), Lutendo Lwanga (2016), and Ndi Divha Yehova (2017). He worked with notable artists and producers such as Hanie Mutele, Blessa and Thabelo Thavhanyedza.
With Ri Tendele, Munyai is embracing his calling once more — to heal and uplift through music.
