The Makhado Rope Skipping Club that caters for young people around the Makhado Municipality needs help to be able to participate in the national championships in Cape Town early next month.

The group won the provincial competition in Polokwane Saturday, 17 September.

The club was established in 2010. According to the leader of the group, Ms Tinyiko Makhubele, if they can raise R30 000 to pay for transport, food and accommodation, the team will participate in the national competition of the South African Gymnastics Federation at the Belville Stadium.

"As a rural group, we do not have money to transport and pay for accommodation of those young kids, so we are making a plea to good Samaritans to assist us. We will be participating in Belville as a club and will represent our district, municipality and our province," she said.

Makhubele said that, irrespective of the hardships they were presently encountering, practices as part of their preparations were taking place as usual. "We do not want to discourage these dedicated and committed young ones, who are prepared to put the area on the map, by stopping our practising."

She can be phoned at 072578 4742.
