Rospa United want to start with a bang

By Frank Mavhungu • 5 October 2012

The National Second Division League kicks off this weekend with all matches to be played tomorrow afternoon.

This weekend marks the beginning of the National Second Division League activities or Vodacom Promotional League as it was formerly known. All matches will be played tomorrow afternoon.

Rospa United, who escaped the relegation axe by a whisker last season, want to start the new season with a bang. They will host the defending champions, Baroka FC, at the Malamulele Stadium. According to the team's head coach, Mr Eric Mabasa, they have assembled a formidable squad that is ready to stand the test of time. Mabasa stated that they wantedto collect as many points as possible in the first round, so that they do not panic about relegation towards the end of the season.

At the Makwarela Stadium, Basel FC will battle for league points with Lephalale Young Killers. Basel have recently strengthened their technical staff by appointing the team's experienced striker, Jafta Mabosho, as an assistant coach.

Nobela All Stars have reason to believe that they will collect a full compliment of points this weekend. They will rub shoulders with Blue Rocks at the Tshifulanani Stadium. According to Nobela's public relations officer, Mr Mikateko Maluleke, they have a rock-solid squad. He revealed that they had played a number of rehearsal matches during the off season as part of their preparations for the new season.

Residents of Makhado (Louis Trichardt) will enjoy good quality football on their doorstep. Their home team, Phungo All Stars, will entertain Giyani Hotspurs at the Eltivillas grounds. Phungo All Stars, just like Rospa United FC, narrowly escaped relegation last season.

The newly promoted Ray Pillars will pay a visit to The Dolphins at the Seshego Stadium. Mopani Zero Fake will host Winnerspark at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen. Mighty FC will play against Magezi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
