Following the success of the opening matches played this past weekend, the round-of-16 fixtures in the Lumveleni Pre-Season Soccer Tournament will take place at the Ngudza Grounds this weekend.
Madzhanini FC and Mbilwi United Stars will clash in one of four matches scheduled for Saturday. Tshivhulani Fire Brothers are preparing for a tough encounter against Kalahari Stars, with kick-off set for 11:00.
The match expected to keep spectators on the edge of their seats will be between Shayandima Dynamos and Mulodi Freedom Birds. Beating Dynamos will not be easy for Freedom Birds, considering Dynamos' superb performance during their league campaign.
Ngwenani Young Chiefs will face Tshimuthe FC later in the afternoon. Young Chiefs are among the favourites to lift the trophy, having delivered a consistent performance throughout the season. They were eliminated from the Safa Vhembe Regional League promotional playoffs in the group stages. Thendo Mathobo and Pfunzo Tshikotshi are the players to watch in the Chiefs' camp.
Manamani Blue Birds and Duthuni Try Again will open Sunday's programme, followed by the match between Kwena FC and Buluni Happy Boys. The match of the day will be the clash between Thohoyandou Bayern Munich and Vondwe XI Bullets. Bullets reached the round of 16 after beating ABC FC 2-1 at the same venue last Saturday.
Vhembe Tron and FC SDA Ya Limpopo will close off Sunday's schedule.
The semi-final and final matches will be played at the same venue on Sunday, 10 August. This year's champions will walk away with R25,000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a full soccer kit.
