The Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival will once again take centre stage on Limpopo's cultural calendar when it takes place on Saturday. This year's programme will feature the Miss Royal Heritage Beauty Pageant and the Royal Gospel Family Day, two of the festival's most celebrated attractions.
The Miss Royal Heritage Beauty Pageant will be staged at the MGB Hotel, where young women from across the province will showcase their grace, intelligence and cultural pride. Contestants will compete in categories such as traditional attire, public speaking and talent.
Organisers say the contest is about more than appearance, with a focus on empowerment, leadership and heritage. "This platform is about nurturing future leaders who can represent our traditions with pride while standing tall in any space they find themselves in," one organiser said.
Once the pageant concludes, attention will shift to the Royal Gospel Family Day at Royal Gardens, Picnic Side, Nandoni Dam in Thohoyandou. Families can expect uplifting performances from leading gospel artists, creating a day of worship, joy and community spirit.
The event will also cater for children, with a dedicated play zone, including games, face painting and jumping castles. Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, transforming the venue into a picnic-style celebration.
Organisers have confirmed that the festival is open to all ages, with clear rules to ensure safety. Items such as drugs, alcohol, firearms and knives will not be allowed. Ample parking will be available for the expected large crowds.
