History was made when all executive committee members of the SAFA Vhembe Regional League were re-elected unopposed to their positions during the association’s elective congress at Masili Guest House in Sibasa last Saturday.
The elections, overseen by appointed commissioner Mr Eric Baloyi of Rehlabile Accounting Solutions, took about ten minutes to complete.
The elected executive committee members are Messrs PJ Ndobe (President), TC Nempumbuluni (1st Deputy President), AE Singo (2nd Deputy President), N Mudzielwana (3rd Deputy President), SJ Maluleke (Treasurer) and TS Matodzi (General Secretary). Other committee members are Messrs J Tshikosi, MR Mammbeda, MA Mangwana, MF Phathela, J Nevhukalanga, MJ Vukeya and D Mothibi.
It was confirmed during the meeting that the association again maintained an unqualified audit opinion for the soccer season ending 30 June last year.
General Secretary Mr Samuel Matodzi highlighted some of the league’s achievements. He said local referee Ms Maduvha Luvhengo represented South Africa at the CAF African Schools Football U/15 tournament in Ghana from 23-26 April last year. He added that the league’s disciplinary committee handled 56 cases last season, none of which were appealed, though most involved assaults on match officials.
The late Mr Shumani Ratshisevhe and 2nd Deputy President Mr AE Singo were honoured for their contributions to football development in the region. SAFA national executive committee delegate Mr Jack Maluleka praised SAFA Vhembe Regional for conducting the elections peacefully.
