During its sitting at the league offices in Thohoyandou last Saturday, the SAFA Vhembe League Disciplinary Committee imposed heavy fines on several clubs found guilty of various offences.
Vhembe Tron FC were fined R10,000 for failing to provide adequate security at their home venue during their match against Shilumani Football Academy, as well as for the assault of match officials. The club also forfeited three league points to Shilumani Football Academy.
Luvhalani Sunshine Pirates were found guilty of causing the abandonment of their match against Maelula United Brothers and of assaulting match officials. The club was fined R7,000 and forfeited the points to Maelula United Brothers.
Malavuwe Great Movers were found guilty of fielding fewer than the minimum required number of players during a league match. The club was fined R6,000 and forfeited the points to Magondi Young Brothers.
Four teams were also sanctioned for participating in friendly matches or competitions without obtaining prior written permission from the league, as required by league regulations. Chabalala FC were fined R3,000, while Shilumani Football Academy, Madonsi FC and Muchipisi Pull Together were each fined R2,000.
In a separate ruling, Malavuwe Great Movers were found not guilty of assaulting match officials during their match against Tshamutilikwa Fire Boys. The Disciplinary Committee ordered that the match be replayed at a neutral venue, with the referee appointed for the replay required to come from a different stream to ensure impartiality.
The committee directed that all fines must be paid within 30 days. Clubs dissatisfied with the decisions have the right to lodge an appeal in accordance with league regulations.
