The SAFA Hollywood League provincial promotional play-off matches, scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday at Malamulele Stadium, have been postponed to 1 and 2 August.
According to SAFA Limpopo provincial secretary Refilwe Khoza, the postponement was necessitated by a pending arbitration case involving clubs from the Capricorn District.
When asked whether the tournament could be postponed again if the arbitration matter was not concluded before next weekend, Khoza said she was confident the case would be finalised this weekend.
Khoza added that SAFA was concerned about the delay in determining the province's representatives for the ABC Motsepe League, as the promoted clubs would have limited time to prepare for the new season.
“Time is running out for the clubs,” she said, adding that preparations for the new ABC Motsepe League season are expected to begin during the second week of next month.
The champions from Limpopo's five SAFA regions will compete in the promotional play-offs, with the top teams earning promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. The five teams competing are ABC FC (Vhembe), Moganyaka Mighty Blues (Sekhukhune), the Capricorn winner, Sunrise Life (Waterberg) and Nhlanhla Northern Bucs (Mopani).
Saturday's programme (1 August) will open with the match between Nhlanhla Northern Bucs and hosts ABC FC at 08:00. Sunrise Life and the Capricorn winner will follow at 10:00 before Moganyaka Mighty Blues take on ABC FC at 12:00. Nhlanhla Northern Bucs will then face Sunrise Life at 14:00, before the Capricorn winner and Moganyaka Mighty Blues wrap up the day's programme at 16:00.
On Sunday, 2 August, ABC FC will face the Capricorn winner at 08:00, followed by Moganyaka Mighty Blues against Nhlanhla Northern Bucs at 10:00. ABC FC will then take on Sunrise Life at 12:00, before Nhlanhla Northern Bucs meet the Capricorn winner at 14:00. The final match of the tournament will see Sunrise Life play Moganyaka Mighty Blues at 16:00.
