The much-awaited elective congress of the SAFA Vhembe Regional Football Association will be held at Masili Guest House in Sibasa on Saturday. According to the nomination list, which was leaked to the Limpopo Mirror, almost all executive members are set to retain their positions uncontested.
Mr Philbert Ndobe is the current president of the association. He took over from Mr George Kubayi four years ago. Mr Colbert Nempumbuluni is expected to retain his position as 1st Deputy President unopposed. Mr Ephraim Singo and Norah Mudzielwana are expected to continue serving as 2nd and 3rd Deputy Presidents respectively for the next four years.
After managing the association’s finances diligently over the past four years, Mr James Maluleke is poised to continue in the role in the next term. SAFA Vhembe has maintained an unqualified audit opinion over the past four years under his leadership. The current general secretary of the association, Mr Samuel Matodzi, is set to be the only contender for the position on Saturday.
It was not clear at the time of going to print whether the other executive committee members, SJ Tshikosi, MR Mammbeda and MA Mangwani, will retain their positions. Messrs J Nevhukalanga, MD Mothibi, MF Phathela and MJ Vukeya will continue to serve as executive members by virtue of being chairpersons of the four local football associations: Musina, Makhado, Thulamela and Collins Chabane.
