Satellite police station opens doors again

The satellite police station at Madombidzha, which had stopped operating for about five weeks, opened its doors again a fortnight ago.

Residents of Madombidzha and Magau villages had expressed concerns after the unexpected closure of the satellite police station. The satellite station functioned under the Tshilwavhusiku SAPS. The closure happened without any official notification to the local residents.

A few weeks ago, angry residents who had visited the station and found no officials to assist them had smashed the windows. The window panes have since been replaced.

The spokesperson for the Makhado police cluster, W/O Kedibone Mabatha, said that the satellite office would only offer services between 07:30 and 16:00.

"Some officers have been deployed to the satellite station to render services to residents," Mabatha said.

He indicated that the lack of an adequate number of staff was the reason why the satellite station had to close temporarily. The satellite will operate only during the day for the time being.
