Capt Maano Sadike, the spokesperson for the police in the Mopani area, said that the deceased had stopped at the gate of his house and walked to open the gate. After opening the gate, he drove the car into the premises and stopped again next to the house.
He then got out of the car and left it idling while he walked back to close the gate. On his way back to the gate, he met two men whose faces were covered with balaclavas. According to the police statement, the gunmen opened fire at the deceased. Although the deceased fell down immediately, the gunmen continued shooting. The statement indicates that the deceased’s wife and his daughter were watching helplessly through the window of the room as the killers showed no mercy to the deceased.
Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that the deceased had four bullets wounds to the chest, three to the stomach, one to the thigh, two to the neck and one to the shoulder. Capt Maano Sadike said that the woman and the daughter were highly traumatized by the incident.
They were still being treated for trauma at the time of going to press. The police have appealed to anyone who has information relating to the incident to contact them at 086 0010 111 or at the police station. The police have promised to treat any information with great confidentiality.
