Zwidofhela Nemukula, also known as Zwido Nems, has released his second Venda gospel album, called Venda Lashu.
His first album, Vhasoswika, was released in 2019. Completing this second album had taken a lot of hard work, said the 30-year-old artist from Thengwe- Muledzhi village. The album consists of 11 tracks, with Swina lanu a si swina langa already a great favourite with his fans. Other songs on the album include Makhadzi muimbi page 1, Ndi Zwido Nems and Vhanna vha khou tambudzwa.
The album is already in great demand and started receiving massive airplay on community, regional and national radio stations. "I am very happy and proud of the way my album is being received by my fans out there. This is a true reflection that my music is mature and appeals to all age groups."
He said that although the album was self-marketed, many copies had already been sold. "My fans like my music because it is filled with important lessons. I am so in love with this album. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it has taken me many years to work on and complete," he said. "It might be long in terms of tracks, but I know every lyric on it. Even if you were to wake me from a deep sleep and ask me to sing you a song from this album, I will do so without any hesitation."
Zwido Nems grew up listening to famous local musicians such as Roxley Masevhe and Rapson Rambuwani, who inspired his work greatly. He started his music career as a backing vocalist for several artists around Vhembe. Despite having plenty of songs at the ready, he had to fund the project himself. He even took piano lessons to enhance his music skills.
According to the music critics, he is gaining great popularity among gospel music lovers, thanks to his unique style, which consists of heavy bass sounds. He sings about personal experiences and what he sees happening around him.
