Shooting Stars too strong for All Stars

By Frank Mavhungu • 15 April 2011

Davhana Shooting Stars deposited the maximum points into their league account and managed to score five beautiful goals against none in their match against Phungo All Stars.

Not only did Davhana Shooting Stars deposit the maximum points into their league account last Sunday, but they also managed to score five beautiful goals against none in their SAB League match against Phungo All Stars at the Vuwani Mandani grounds.

All Stars approached the game aggressively. The referee, Eric Munyai, did not allow them to intimidate the opponents with their illegal tackles. He calmed the situation by flashing the first yellow card to Thomas Maemo in the 14th minute. Maemo tackled Lucky Shoba from behind and he was lucky to escape with yellow.

Shooting Stars opened their account in the 24th minute. Lucky Shoba blasted in a rocket, following a neat pass from Thomas Makhubele. The home side effected the first change to their starting line-up when the game was 34 minutes old. They introduced Zakhele Nhlapo for the injured Happy Mahuntsi. Nhlapo came close to scoring three minutes later, but he was unlucky. The goal was ruled disallowed as the assistant referee's flag was already up for an offside.

Rofhiwa Netshiungani was on target nine minutes before break, to bring the half-time score to 2-0. He capitalized on the Stars' defensive error and scored an easy goal. All Stars replaced William Mathole and Phumudzo Munyai with Allen Masoga and Thabelo Thovhakale respectively.

Shandukani Mukoma scored the third goal after receiving a pre-cooked pass from Thomas Makhubele. A substitute, Zakhele Nhlapo, scored the last two goals in quick succession. Junior Sibande of Shooting Stars was also booked for a late tackle on Josias Mathole late in the game.
