Six suspects still in custody for ritual murder

The six accused in the ritual murder case of Mercy Ndou are still in custody.

The six accused in the ritual murder case of Mercy Ndou are still in custody.

They briefly appeared in court again last Wednesday, where their bail applications continued. Due to time constraints, the court could not listen to all six accused's applications and decided to postpone the matter until this Wednesday, 23 May.

The six accused are Gerson Mathoho (52), Eric Khobo (30), Rhulani Shirindi (43), Shonisani Muruge (53), Khuthandzo Tshidino (28) and Azwindini Ndou (42).

They are charged with the ritual murder of Ndou, who was 33 at the time of her death.

Ndou disappeared in 2014 after telling her family that she would come back later to assist them in moving goods as they were moving to a new house at another location. That was the last time she was seen alive.

Her body, with parts missing, was found in the bushes at Tshitavha.
