Registration is open for teams that wish to take part in this year's edition of the Balethavha Soccer Tournament. According to the deputy chairperson of the organizing committee, Mr Humbelani Mukhathi, the registration process started the committee's meeting last Saturday. The meeting resolved that 16 teams will partake in this year's tournament and that the registration fee is R500 per team. This year's champions will receive R8 000, a soccer kit, a floating trophy, soccer balls and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R5 000, a soccer kit, silver medals and a soccer ball.
The third- and fourth-placed teams will be given R4 000 and R3 000 respectively. Teams that booted out of the tournament in the quarterfinal stage will each receive R1 500. The remaining teams will each go home with a consolation prize of R800.
According to Mukhathi, registration will remain open until Saturday, 9 December. All matches will be staged at the Tshixwadza Stadium and the kick-off date will be announced after the closure for the registration window.
