Uhone Malindi, popularly known as Slender Girl, says she sings what she believes her fans will like. In terms of sound, she seems to have found her own style, and if you are a fan of house music, make sure to listen to her latest single, Nyimele.
Born in Ha-Mavhunga, Slender Girl is one of the few successful local musicians who have made a name for themselves in the music industry. House music in particular has become one of the most popular music genres in Venda. Slender Girl's own passion for house music was inspired by local super-diva Makhadzi.
During an interview, Slender Girl said that she was proud to be called a Venda musician, who enjoyed singing in her mother tongue, Tshivenda. When speaking to the Limpopo Mirror, she admitted that most Tshivenda singers were still facing a lot of challenges that hindered their success. "When you come from Venda, it is very difficult to find a stable record label that will get you to national level. But I believe in myself. I want to go out there and do it on my own, regardless of those challenges."
She said that she was overjoyed with the positive response she had received from her fans with the promotion of her single on the different radio stations. "The messages and calls I received from my fans were overwhelming. We are receiving new orders every day. People love the song! I'm happy that it has sold so many copies in such a short time," she said.
Slender Girl is also performing live at various venues around the province to promote the single. "My schedule is very hectic because everyone wants me to perform in their area. I urge my fans to be patient and wait until I'm there to give them the best of my music." She thanks all her fans who have been supporting her over the course of her music career.
