The legendary and iconic Tshivenda traditional music star, Solomon Mathase, promises fireworks during the Malisakholomo Band Tshima Award celebration.

The much-anticipated event will take place at Halambani Nzanwe Konka Restaurant on 5 April. Described as the best show of artistic unity, the event will see Vhavenda and VaTsonga artists come together under the umbrella of VendShang and the Tshivenda Traditional Music Organisation.

Among the notable and popular artists performing at the event are legend Alpheus Ramavhea, Ester Sinyegwe, Ikhou Bobodana Band, and Constance Makhuvha from the Venda side. The VaTsonga line-up is also enticing, featuring artists such as Abel Chauke, The Guitar Man, Mama D, Mama G, Martin Magayisa, Zaporoma, Tisimbi ta Japan, and Mhama R.

One of the organisers of the show, veteran musician Ishy Malala of the Tshivenda Traditional Music Organisation, said it would be a celebration day for the communities of Halambani and surrounding villages.

"Malisakholomo Band has done us very proud by winning such a prestigious award. They were voted the best group in the Tshivenda Traditional Music category. This is a great milestone not only for the band but for all those who love this kind of music. The band has made history by being the first group to win such an award. This calls for celebration, and we are highly motivated by the fact that our counterparts from Malamulele have decided to come and celebrate with us," he said.

Veteran Solomon Mathase, the master of the stage, promised fireworks. "I cannot wait. I still have so much to offer the industry," he said.

Popular and veteran Xitsonga musician Abel Chauke expressed his excitement at being part of the celebrations. "We heard about this group's achievements, and we said we could not act as if nothing had happened. We are working together with Vhavenda groups in the name of the arts. We will show how excited we are when we take the stage," he said.
