It was a feast of goals when Madombidzha Western Stars gave Madombidzha Arsenal a 4-0 drubbing in their Safa SAB match played at the packed Madombidzha grounds on Sunday.

The local derby match was attended by more than 3 000 spectators.

Stars could have scored more than a dozen goals, had they managed to convert all their chances. The game was characterized by rough tackles in the first half. Stars scored their first goal after Percy Munonoka dished a well-cooked pass to Thabo Matuba, who scored after a heartbreaking scramble for the ball within the box.

The visiting side was one goal up when the referee blew the half-time whistle. They were dictating terms in all departments. The midfielder-cum-striker for Stars, Daniel Mukosi, was booked for wasting time in the 58th minute. Ridovhona Singo received a loose ball from the left corner and beat the Arsenal keeper, Rendani Maduwa, with a ground cutter.

Thabo Matuba caught the Arsenal keeper off guard and blasted in a ground cutter from the far left corner. Matuba completed his hat-trick when he scored from far out.

Stars will represent Stream E in the promotional play-outs.
