The late MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Joy Matshoge, will receive a provincial state funeral in her home town of Modimolle on Saturday.
Mashoge died in a vehicle accident on the N1, about 10km away from the Nyl Plaza. Ms Matshoge was appointed Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Agriculture and Rural Development on 23 May 2014.
The office of the ANC Chief Whip in the Limpopo Legislature expressed his sadness about the news of the untimely death of Matshoge. At the time of her death, she was chairperson of the ANC Women's League in the province, and a member of the provincial executive committee of the ANC in the province.
The Chief Whip, Mr Falaza Mdaka, described her as 'a "dedicated servant of the people," who understood that public service is about serving the electorate first, and was vibrant in executing her duties'.
Agri-Limpopo also sent its condolences from all the farmers with the death of Matshoge. In a statement, Agri-Limpopo commended her "passion for the people in the sector and devoted efforts to create an environment in which agriculture can grow and prosper." According to the statement, Agri-Limpopo shares the dream which she articulated on fighting poverty and hunger through wealth creation in the rural areas, "and will honour her legacy by maintaining that vision, and working towards the materialisation of it."
