Several clubs competing in the SAFA Vhembe Regional Leagues were handed hefty fines and other sanctions during a Disciplinary Committee (DC) hearing held on 6 June at the association’s offices in Thohoyandou.
Matika FC appeared before the DC on a charge of indirectly causing the abandonment of its league match against Ramantsha Blackpool. The club was found guilty and fined R8,000. In addition, Matika FC forfeited the league points to Ramantsha Blackpool.
Manamani City appeared before the committee for failing to fulfil a fixture for which a date and venue had been fixed by SAFA Vhembe. The DC cautioned and discharged the club and ordered that the match be replayed at SM United’s home ground.
Valdezia FC was found guilty of causing the abandonment of its match against Mukondeni Royal FC and was fined R3,000.
Matshavhawe United was fined R3,000 for failing to field the required five under-age players during its match against Muraida Youth Development. The club was also found guilty of indirectly causing the abandonment of the match and forfeited the points to Muraida Youth Development.
The matter involving Berea FC and Musina All Stars, in which a match was played for less than the stipulated duration, resulted in the DC ordering that the fixture be replayed at a neutral venue.
Lwathudwa Black Movers was fined R3,000 for causing the abandonment of its match against Muraluwe Shining Stars because of a clash of team colours.
Buluni Happy Boys was fined R3,000 for failing to provide an alternative kit when its colours clashed with those of Mushiru Young Tigers. The club also forfeited the points to its opponents.
Bokisi Scientists was fined R5,000 after its players and supporters allegedly refused to allow a penalty kick to be taken after it had been awarded by the referee during a match against Mashamba Soccer Academy. The club forfeited the points to Mashamba Soccer Academy.
Makwarani Freelimo Boys was fined R3,000 for failing to properly mark the field of play during its match against LG Discovery and forfeited the points to LG Discovery.
Ngwenani Young Chiefs was fined R4,000 following an incident in which a club official, Ronewa Ramela, allegedly assaulted referee Naledzani Mulea by pouring liquor over him after a match against Ngudza Young Vultures.
SAFA Vhembe General Secretary Samuel Matodzi warned that all fines must be paid within 30 working days. He stressed that all disciplinary matters must be finalised before the end of the season to ensure that clubs participating in the promotional play-offs do so without any outstanding disciplinary cases.
