Last weekend was a joyful one for Madridtas FC. They managed to win two of their four Safa Vhembe promotional play-off matches. They commenced their promotional play-off programme with a bang when they brutally walloped Matsika Shooting Stars 6-0 at the Makhuvha Stadium on Saturday.
Their second match was against Tshakhuma Na Ndilani FC, with whom they shared the spoils 1-1 at the same venue later that afternoon. Madridtas were the first to find the net against Tshakhuma. Their top goal scorer, Eethe Khaukanani, blasted in a rocket in the 11th minute, following a pre-cooked pass from Ernot Dzaga. Tshakhuma Na Ndilani fought back later in the game, with Gift Nemutandani scoring.
In their opening match on Sunday morning, Madridtas collected full points at the expense of Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions, whom they beat 2-0 at the Tshifulanani Stadium. Madridtas could have scored an avalanche of goals against Hungry Lions, but their strikers seemed to have forgotten their scoring boots at home. As if they were going to bury Hungry Lions alive, Madridtas approached the game aggressively, with their midfielders dishing out some telling passes to the goal poachers. They soon realized that it was not their day when their killer-striker, Eethe Khaukanani, missed a fortune. Khaukanani received a square pass from Ndivhuwo Masakona and shot wide from close range.
Madridtas were leading with 1-0 at half time. Khaukanani was on target in the 29th minute with a volley. Muvhuso Simba scored the second later in the game. He finished off a rebound, following a mix-up within the box.
Madridtas played to a 1-1 draw with Wayeni Sea Robbers in their final match at the Malamulele Stadium.
