Madombidzha Try Again proceeded to the next stage of the SuperSpar tournament after beating Tshiozwi Mates 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out. The match took place at Tshiozwi on Sunday.
The match was played under protest. Mates alleged that Try Again fielded an improperly registered player, Thabo Mamburu. Although two of their key players went into the referee's book in the opening minutes, Try Again continued to fight as an organised team. The two players who were cautioned with cards for rough tackling were Salter Muregu and Volcano Lethole.
Mates played against the wind in the first half, but managed to contain their opponents. Try Again scored in the 25th minute via Jeffrey Macheke, making the score 1-0 in favour of Try Again at half time.
Mates left Thabelo Netshiendeulu in the dressing room and brought on Mashudu Nengovhela for the second half. They fought back strongly, mounting pressure on the defence of Try Again. The long-awaited equaliser came in the 85th minute. Mashudu Nengovhela of Mates dribbled past two defenders in a row and beat the Try Again keeper.
