Black Leopards' coach, Mr Dylan Kerr has come to the defence of outgoing former skipper Marks Munyai, after supporters were jeering him on Sunday.

The right back of the Thohoyandou outfit, Munyai, did not have the best of matches during the 0-0 draw with Highlands Park at the Thohoyandou Stadium. It led to some of the supporters at the stadium calling for his substitution.

Kerr, however, did not budge to their substitution gestures and insisted that Munyai remained the best right back they had in the team. "The fans were getting on Munyai's back two weeks ago. They were getting on my back about why I am not playing him, and now suddenly I play him against Highlands Park. He is not gone and had a below-par game in front of everybody and live on TV. He is probably hurting that he is going to leave Black Leopards for the team we played against," he said.

Kerr added that he fully understood why Munyai was leaving the club when his contract expired. "Munyai is a good kid and he won't let Black Leopards down, but it was just not his day and it is understandable. He was playing against his new employees that he joins in six months. We had a heart-to-heart conversation and I fully understand why he is going. We just need to move on," said Kerr.
