Renowned Venda rapper T Man Gavini has taken a bold step towards reclaiming his life and career by joining the Makongoza Camp. This decision follows a long-standing battle with drug and alcohol addiction, which nearly derailed his promising music journey.
Thivhulawi Ndou, better known as T Man Gavini, is a household name in local music circles. His impressive discography includes collaborations with Venda music heavyweights such as Mizo Phyll and P Postman. His unique sound has resonated with fans across the region, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the Venda music scene.
The Mmbwa ya la Inwe a Noni hitmaker, who rose to prominence in 2006 and went on to produce numerous hits, has had a tumultuous journey. After gaining fame, he fell in with the wrong crowd and found himself battling drug and alcohol addiction - an ordeal that took a toll on his music career.
In 2020, however, T Man Gavini received help from prominent attorney Adv Mpho Nefuri, who facilitated his admission to a Pretoria rehabilitation centre for a full year. This proved to be a turning point in his recovery journey.
Today, he is a committed member of the Assemblies of God, a Zionist church based in Tshilungoma, outside Thohoyandou. His renewed faith and dedication to rehabilitation have given him a fresh perspective on life and music.
In an interview this past weekend, it was clear that the artist has confronted his demons and emerged stronger. He spoke about his experience at Makongoza Camp, known for its holistic approach to rehabilitation, and reassured fans that his temporary hiatus was necessary for his artistic rebirth.
"I am God's favourite son, and I am unmatchable," he declared. "My music has shaped the dynamics of the Venda music industry, and I am ready to take it to new heights. The world is not ready for what is coming their way."
This should be welcome news for his loyal fans, who eagerly await his return to the music scene.
