The Masia community celebrated Heritage Day during an event that was held at the Ramauba Secondary School's sports grounds last Saturday.
In his address, the Minister of Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya encouraged community members, particularly the women, to take part in Masia Development Trust's projects, such as the water project, road construction project, poultry project, library and IT centre project and agricultural project. "I am glad to acknowledge that the Masia Development Trust has seized the opportunity to address the socio-economic challenge facing this community. I therefore take this opportunity to urge all community members to take part in all the projects that are to be implemented," he said.
Skweyiya, the patron of the Masia Development Trust, said: "I know that there are still challenges which the community is faced with such as bad roads conditions, lack of water supply and electricity. I am therefore also going to engage Government, stakeholders and other donors to ensure that the implemented projects become sustainable."
He further acknowledged that he was happy to see that the Masia community was taking a step to help itself, rather than waiting for the government to come up with a solution to their problems.
During the event, the best learners in commerce, science and African languages were honored. The local soccer team also received a new soccer kit.
