The Gumbu Sport Grounds will be a hive of activity from 27 to 29 December when the annual Vhako's Chalice Soccer Tournament takes place.
Eight teams from the Niani area will compete for the championship. The teams preparing for the event are Tshenzhelani Diitele, Rangani FC, Maramanzhi Pull Together, Sigonde Young Stars, Tuwani Young Stars, Makavhini Black Movers, Bale Vini FC, and the hosts, Gumbu Peace Makers.
According to one of the tournament organisers, Mr Phethani Manenzhe, the draw for the quarter-final matches will be conducted during the final preparatory meeting, to be held at the Gumbu Sports Grounds on Saturday morning.
The winning team will walk away with R5,000, gold medals, and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R3,000 and silver medals, while the teams eliminated in the semi-final stage will each be awarded R2,000.
