The organisers of the Thovhele NTL Mashamba Soccer Tournament have invited teams from across the Vhembe region to register for this year’s event, which will also feature primary and secondary school soccer and netball competitions.
More than R250,000 has been budgeted for the senior soccer tournament as well as the school competitions. The event will run from 11 July to 9 August at the Mashamba grounds, marking its sixth edition.
According to spokesperson Ace Mbedzi, the tournament will accommodate teams from across the Vhembe area, although space for senior teams is limited.
The registration fee for senior soccer teams is R2,000 per team. The winners will receive R90,000, a floating trophy, gold medals and two new soccer kits. The runners-up will take home R35,000, silver medals and two kits, while third place will receive R13,500, bronze medals and a kit. The fourth-placed team will get R6,500 and a kit.
In the primary school category, the soccer champions will receive R3,000, a kit, gold medals and a trophy, while the netball champions will get R1,500, a netball kit, gold medals and a trophy.
For secondary schools, the soccer champions will receive R6,000, a trophy, a kit and gold medals, while the netball winners will receive R3,000, a netball kit, gold medals and a trophy.
