Teams affiliated to the Makhado Local Football Association shared R250 000 in prize money during their annual prize-giving ceremony at the Louis Trichardt Lapa last Friday evening.

Safa Vhembe president Mr George Kubayi said the players had trained hard to excel in their activities. He praised the committee, who managed the sport well, and encouraged community members to keep it up to produce soccer stars.

He thanked the Limpopo Dairy Company and other companies for developing soccer in the rural areas and said it was very wise for the owner to plough back what he received from the community.

He also appealed to other businesspeople to follow Limpopo's example and said it was brutal for businesspeople to enrich themselves at the expense of the people, and do nothing in return towards the development of the area.

The president of the Makhado Local Football Association, Mr Takalani Maphaha, praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment during their matches.

During the ceremony, the winners in the 10 streams each went home with R4 600. They are Mukondeni Shooting Stars, Tshivhuyuni Two For Joy, Mabedi FC, Mutsha Atlantic FC, Vyeboom Marikana, Midoroni Real Hearts, Tshikhwani Stone Breakers, Khakhu Real Vultures, Phadzima KSP Young Stars and Luvhani Sunshine Pirates.
