Young Hakhakhi Mugeri, known by his stage name of TeeagoSA, released his second Extended Play (EP), titled Straight out of Venda II, on 27 May. The EP contains six tracks, namely Maria Wanga, Ha-Murena, Paradisoni, Jealous, Melody from a broken heart, and Vhuswa hashu.
TeeagoSA's first EP, Straight out of Venda I, was released in March 2022.
The 23-year-old artist, who hails from Matsika village, near Thohoyandou, grew up in a musical family, with his father, Rev Mugeri, being a Gospel singer, and his late brother, Fhulufhelo Mugeri, becoming a hip-hop artist. "Growing up in a family that makes music is what made me fall in love with music at a very early age. My brother used to take me along to his recording sessions and that's where I learned to write songs. My brother paid for my first recording session for my very first song," he said.
Despite facing certain challenges, like not having enough equipment for recording and having to travel all the way to Muledane village to get his music recorded at the Muledane Hustler studio, he is working on his next project, which will be a full album this time. "I am working on my first album; I am not sure yet if I will release it at the end of this year or by early next year. The good news is that I am working with many local artists on the album," he said.
Teeago's music is available on all streaming platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube.
