Ten of the twelve suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Louis Trichardt businessman Eddie Gouveia appeared in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate's Court on 10 June.
Five of the suspects are out on bail, but the others have spent the past couple of months behind bars. Gouveia was kidnapped on 16 October last year. The first three suspects in the kidnapping case were arrested on 4 November last year. Since then, and after the safe rescue of Gouveia in January this year, the number of accused has risen to 12.
During Tuesday's hearing, accused number eleven, Vusimuzi Emmanuel Ndovhe, heard that he will have to appear in court again on 23 June for cross examination. Khumbusani Nyathi (accused number four) and Mishack Gumede (accused number one) are scheduled to appear in court on 19 June for a bail application.
Khathutshelo Godfrey Mutswana (accused number 12), Nhlalwenhle Skhosana (accused number 2) and James Bonginkosi Simelane (accused number 10) were told that they will be appearing again in court on 15 August.
Ripfumelo Lodwish Ngobeni, Qhubekani Nkiwane, Mulalo Mutswana, Stanley Sithole and Abdulmani Mohammed had been granted bail thus far.
