Phalaphala FM's current affairs programme presenter Thambatshira Ndadza has scooped up another author's award from The Book Behind Awards (TBBA) for his latest Tshivenda poetry book.
Ndadza, who hails from Ha-Matsika in the Malavuwe area, won the Best Tshivenda Book award for his fourth and latest book, titled Zwirembiluni. The awards were handed over at an event held in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday, 9 November.
The book contains 98 poems that primarily address serious issues affecting people's lives on a regular basis, such as gender-based violence, conspiracy, corruption, death, world conflicts, fornication, perseverance, and heroism.
Three months ago, Ndadza was recognized at the AfriCAN Honoree Authors Awards, held in Sandton, for his third book, a Tshivenda novel titled Dambuwo Li Si Na Muratho. The book won the accolade in the Suspense Novel: Tshivenda category.
Ndadza said that receiving an award twice in one year was something worth celebrating. "Being rewarded in this fashion means a lot, especially to me as an emerging author. It shows some light towards growth. It also gives me courage to continue writing in Tshivenda, my mother tongue. Scooping two book awards in a year shows the maturity I'm reaching as an author. I'm feeling so honoured, and I'm not going to look back," said Ndadza.
