The Dolphins ready for the playoffs

Most of the teams affiliated to the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League played their final league matches over the past weekend.

As the stream champions, The Dolphins will represent the Limpopo Province in the promotional play-off tournament that will be staged in two months' time.

In an interview, the team's head coach, Mr Joel Mongalo, indicated that the fact that they had managed to finish their league programme two months before the promotional play-off tournament, means that they have enough time to prepare for the big event. He was confident that they will use their home ground advantage to win the tournament and gain promotion to the National First Division (NFD).

Limpopo Province will host this year's tournament. It will be the second time in a row for The Dolphins to take part in the play-offs. They represented the province in the same tournament which was staged in Kimberley, Northern Cape, last year. They were then the laughing stock of the tournament as they failed to get a single point during the event.

Mongalo appealed to the local football lovers to rally behind the team during the tournament, saying history will never repeat itself. According to him, history shows that he is a "promotion specialist". He cited the promotion of Magezi FC to the NFD two years ago as an example. He was the team's coach when Magezi gained promotion.

While The Dolphins are gearing up for the promotional play-offs, Giyani Hotspurs and Musina United or formerly known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, are preparing themselves for a new life in the SAB League. Giyani Hotspurs and Musina United are relegated to the lower division after finishing their league programme at the bottom of the log.
