Community members, family and church members gathered in large numbers to pay tribute to Patricia “Patty” Tshidada (51), laid to rest at Tshiozwi Cemetery on Saturday, 17 January. Tshidada, the sister of Judge Thogomelani Tshidada, passed away at Siloam Hospital on 10 January after a short illness.
Among those at the funeral were Judge Rami Matopo, Judge Joseph Raulinga, Limpopo Deputy Judge President Violet Semenya, other members of the legal fraternity, and officials from the Department of Justice.
Speakers recognised Tshidada’s contributions to the community as a leader and a Christian. Judge Thogomelani Tshidada said the family had accepted the loss, though it remained difficult to bear. “The pain we experience as a family is more than words can express,” he said.
“Our sister taught us to love God, live cleanly and always strive to live in peace and unity. Her life was well lived, and we have no doubt that she is rejoicing with the angels in her next life in the Kingdom of God. Although we are saddened by her death, we thank God for giving us a wonderful gift in our sister,” he added.
Judge Joseph Raulinga said Tshidada would be remembered for creating opportunities and for her dedication to community projects. “She will be remembered for her dedication and commitment to community projects,” he said.
