Shayandima Morning Stars collected full points in their Sasol Women's League match at the expense of Chippas United Ladies, whom they beat 1-0 at the Guvhukuvhu grounds on Sunday.

The game was played under protest. This after Chippas lodged a protest with the referee, Mr Sandani Nelufule. In their protest, Chippas alleged that two of the Morning Stars' players, Tshilidzi Mkhabela and Phumudzo Makhado, were not properly registered with the club.

Morning Stars made their intentions very clear from the onset. The Chippas goalkeeper, Edzani Ramaano, was forced to perform overtime as the strikers of Morning Stars were unstoppable. The Stars knocked on Chippas' door for the first time in the 14th minute. Esther Mphaki tried her luck from the 35-meter area with a volley. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced outside the field of play for a goal kick.

The only time Chippas came close to scoring in the first half was when Kholani Mukhuwana unleashed a volley from outside the box. The keeper of Stars, Tshilidzi Mkhabela, palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

Chippas effected a change to their original squad in the 55th minute. They introduced Thanzi Netshishivhe at the expense of Gudani Ramathavha. The replacement was not good enough to stop Morning Stars from scoring the goal that earned them three points. The Stars were awarded a free kick just outside the box in the 68th minute. Mulalo Mufandilani tried her luck from the free kick with a volley. The keeper of Chippas watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.

Chippas took the game to the home side after the goal. Realizing that Chippas were unstoppable, the Stars tried to frustrate them by playing aerial balls from behind. Matshenyego Mamaila of Chippas was booked for a late tackle on Pinana Onezwa towards the end of the game.
