Ravele Highlanders beat Madabani Mambas 3-1 in the final match of the Mahi Tournament played at the Ravele the grounds on Saturday.
Highlanders started the game like a house on fire. That forced Mambas to play the first 15 minutes of the game with their backs against the wall. A corner kick in the 20th minute resulted in a scramble within the box and Tondani Phadziri scored the only goal for Highlanders with a header.
A defender of Highlanders handled the ball within his own penalty area seven minutes later. The referee awarded a penalty to the Mambas. Thomas Mabidiga scored from the white spot to equalise. The players of Highlanders were not happy with the referee's decision to award Mambas a penalty. One of them, Hulisan Mmbodi, was reprimanded with a card, following a continued argument with the referee.
Highlanders replaced Mbudzeni Netshituni with Leboang Mphasha early in the last half.
Mambas sacrificed Mulalo Mangomeni for Thendo Mulaudzi. Tondani Phadziri forced his way through the defence of Mambas and beat the keeper with a volley to bring the score to 2-1 in the 76th minute.
Mambas continued to play entertaining football, despite the setback. They were denied what was arguably a legitimate goal in the 78th minute. Bonzani Makgwala's goal was disallowed on the basis that the scorer was in an off-side position. Phadziri complete his hat trick when he finished from a free kick five minutes before full time.
