Tributes have been pouring in for the traditional leader of the Maduwa clan, Vhamusanda Vho David Maduwa, who died on 7 September in a head-on collision at Munzhedzi.
Family spokesperson Maanda Maduwa said the family was devastated by the loss. "We have lost a pillar of the family that everyone looked up to for advice. He was everything to us, and our main source of inspiration," he said. Despite being illiterate, Vhamusanda ensured his children were cared for and educated. "He was modest, compassionate and dedicated to uplifting his community," Maanda said.
During his reign, community councils and committees worked closely with him to drive development in the area. "He was a strict leader, but he loved his people deeply and worked tirelessly for them," Maanda added.
Thovhele Vho Vhutshilo Ramabulana described him as one of the most hardworking and experienced leaders in the Nthabalala Tribal Authority. "A great tree has fallen. We are in deep mourning over his untimely death," he said. Ramabulana said the Vhamusanda had often advised the traditional council in disputes, promoted good governance and encouraged education. "He left a big void that will be very difficult to fill. He worked so hard for his people and will be greatly missed," he said.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, 13 September, at Maduwa at 05:00.
