The late music enthusiast Pandelani Nemafhohoni has been eulogised as a man who loved and lived music. Popularly known as DJ Prince Bull, Nemafhohoni (24), who was a resident DJ at Kwa Max in Nzhelele, passed away after collapsing at his home on Monday, 30 June.

In a short statement released by his employer, Kwa Max, they expressed their sorrow at the loss: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our resident DJ, Pandelani Nemafhohoni, DJ Prince Bull. Your energy, passion, your presence meant everything at Kwa Max. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. Rest well, brother."

His mother, Ms Livhuwani Mavhasa, who works in Gauteng, described his death as a devastating blow to both the family and the entertainment world. "I received the sad news that he collapsed on Monday morning, 30 June. As a mother, I am so heartbroken. He was not only a son to me but a friend and an adviser. I have not yet accepted that he is gone forever," she said.

Mavhasa added that besides his love of music, he had been a very talented bead designer. "I once proposed to buy him machines to formally open his bead-making business, but he refused, saying he was for music. He lived for music and always had his earphones on, listening to music. We will, as a family, miss him dearly," she said.

His manager, Mr Thingahangwi Mafhungo, better known as DJ Sos Mah in the entertainment industry, had high praise for the young DJ. "I met the boy at my place of work, Kwa Max, around 2016 or 2019, before the deadly Corona. He was then just a car washer, but by 2021 he approached me and asked me to teach him DJ skills, which I did. Within a short space of time, he had mastered the trade, and my boss told me he was ready to spin the discs on his own and that I should afford him a slot," he said.

Sos Mah said that Nemafhohoni had started performing professionally in 2023. "Among the top artists he performed alongside were popular musician Makhadzi, Mbali Zuke, Kharishma, Murumba Peach and Trybe. He was dedicated to his craft, and one thing that made him succeed in this industry was his humility and his eagerness to learn. We have lost a great talent in him. He was destined for greater things," he said.

DJ Prince Bull was laid to rest at Tshitavha Cemetery on Saturday, 5 July.

A memorial bash celebrating his life and featuring top local talent was held at his place of work, Kwa Max, after the funeral.
