Masala "Tsala" Tsanwani was a marvel to watch when his team, Gwamasenga United Brothers, beat Tshisaulu Cobra Stars 2-1 in their MMK Administrators League match at Gwamasenga on Sunday. Tsanwani scored the two goals for Brothers.
The Brothers' keeper, Rendani Mmbengwa, denied the Stars several sure goals during the first half. Mmbengwa made his presence felt in the 11th minute when Mulweli Mathada went loose from the right corner and unleashed a powerful ground cutter from close range. Mmbengwa advanced out of the penalty area to block Mathada's way, much to the fans' disappointment.
United Brothers threatened to score nine minutes later. Their overlapping midfielder, Masala Tsanwani, tried his luck from the 25-meter area. The keeper of Stars, Khodani Matodzi, braved the shot and palmed the ball away for a corner kick. No goals were scored in the first half.
Stars committed suicide by playing defensive football in the last half. That gave United Brothers chance to dictate terms within the Stars' danger area. Tsanwani scored his first goal in the 59th minute. He blasted in a rocket, following a scramble within the box.
Brothers increased the lead in the 74th minute when Tsanwani beat the keeper with a half volley. The Stars' solitary goal came in the 85th minute. Mulweli Mathada forced his way through the defence of Brothers and scored with a header.
Brothers beat Mutandani Pull Together 2-1 at the Lwamondo grounds the previous day. Rendani Dzivhani and Tshilidzi Ramatsitsi scored for United Brothers against Mutandani Pull Together on Saturday.
