Local pugilist Rofhiwa "Tsetse Fly" Nemushungwa had the crowd on their feet when he knocked out Mxolisi Sibiya in the seventh round of their fight during the Angel's Boxing Promotion Tournament at the Malamulele Boxing Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The sensational boxer from Tshifudi village dropped Sibiya in the fourth round with a right uppercut to the jaw, but the tough fighter from KwaZulu-Natal managed to beat the count amid loud ululations from local fans who had packed the venue.
By the fifth round, it was clear that it was only a matter of time before Sibiya went down as he was repeatedly caught with ferocious left and right combinations to the head.
In the seventh round, Sibiya took a left uppercut to the jaw and began wobbling around the ring before a powerful right hook sent him to the canvas.
In a brief interview after the fight, Nemushungwa said he was still furious about how the judges had robbed him of the national title when he had fought the late Edward Malindi in 2022.
"I won that fight fairly in the ring, but the judges decided otherwise. I was so hurt that I didn't fight last year, though I kept on training. This was my comeback fight after that daylight robbery. Now, every boxer I face will have to pay for what the judges did to me," he said.
