The well-known Vhembe boxer Tsiko "Cruel Junior" Mulovhedzi will be in action in Switzerland on Saturday night in a WBF Welterweight title fight against the undefeated Swiss boxer Zino Mueli.

Mulovhedzi was given another chance to gain a title after losing to Lazlo Toth of Hungary in an IBF clash in October last year at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sport Centre. Mulovhedzi put the blame for his loss on a lack of preparation for the fight. He forfeited his belt on the scale after weighing in at 71.22 kg. The limit is 66.68 kg. He was more than 5kg heavier than Toth, who registered 65.86 kg.

Mulovhedzi has not been fighting for almost 11 months, and Saturday night's bout over 12 rounds is sure to test his mettle. He said he would use the fight as a springboard for an international title fight. "I am ready. I am fit physically and emotionally, and with the support coupled with the training, there is no way my opponent can beat me. I promise to floor him." Mulovhedzi said his opponent was a closed book to him. "I'm ready for him and this fight will pave the route for me to contest internationally. I need more fights," he said.

Mulovhedzi is adamant that he will outclass his opponent. He said that he was not moved by his opponent's recent threats to dent his record. "I am well prepared for the event, and I am sure that I will bring home the championship belt," he said. He said that Mueli should not make the mistake of thinking he was visiting Switzerland for a holiday.

Mueli, the Swiss champion, turned professional in December of 2015 and has an unblemished 11-0 record. He has, however, never been in the ring with anyone of the calibre of Mulovhedzi.
