Although it was an away fixture for them, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) proved the critics wrong and beat the much-feared Highlands Park 2-1 in their NFD League match at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa on Saturday.
TTM knocked on the opposition's door several times in the first half. No goal was seen during the first stanza.
The wheel of fortune turned against the home side when the visitors from Limpopo opened their account in the 56th minute. Their diminutive striker, Mpambaniso Monde, was on target with a neat ground cutter. The goal seemed to be an insult to Park. They regrouped from behind, making things difficult for TTM in the middle of the park.
They found the equalizer via Mothobi Mvala in the 69th minute. TTM reclaimed the lead late in the game through Frank Motebejane, who beat the keeper with a close-range half volley.
Black Leopards lost their second match in a row. They suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Stellenbosch at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.
Stellenbosch were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute after a defender of Leopards handled within the box. Abednigo Mosiatlaga converted. A defender of Leopards, Kgomotso Masia, flicked the ball back into his own net in an attempt to clear in the 40th minute.
Leopards' solitary goal was scored by Marks Munyai. He forced his way through the defence of Stellenbosch and beat the keeper with a ground cutter.
Phelelani Shozi and Tebogo Reed scored for University of Pretoria when they beat Royal Eagles 2-1, while the Eagles' solitary goal was scored by David Zulu.
Mthatha Bucks drew 1-1 with Witbank Spurs at the Mthatha Stadium. Super Eagles crushed Ubuntu Cape Town 2-0 at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.
Cape Town All Stars lost their first match when they suffered a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Mbombela United at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
