The rural Madodonga Primary School received a major boost of 20 computers that were donated by BBD Software Development.
The computers were handed over to the school on Saturday.
Mr Dakalo Nematandani of BBD Software Development said there was a need for entrepreneurs to develop young people. He added that his company was highly touched by the conditions in which rural learners found themselves.
"We are obliged to do something for our kids, because they are the future of our country. We are forced to invest in the education of our kids, because total freedom comes through education. Technology has taken the world by storm and it is also good for our rural kids not to be left behind. That is why we are involving ourselves in the donation of the computers."
Nematandani said that they also wanted to make sure that pupils from rural areas had equal or more access to new technology. "In this way we are investing in the future of our country, as these children will gain confidence, which will make them to compete with their peers at any level."
He added that the donation was in line with his company's social responsibility policy. "It will be unwise for our business to receive money from local community members and do nothing to improve the standard of life in the local community."
The principal of Madodonga Primary School, Mr David Tshirangwana, applauded BBD Software Development for their donation and said the computers would help the school and the learners a lot. He appealed to other companies to follow the giant step taken by BBD Software Development to plough something significant back into the community.
