A routine police inspection led to the arrest of two Zimbabwean men in Musina last Thursday.

According to provincial police spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi, the men were found in possession of explosives. The 33-year-old Victor Chaikambure and 34-year-old Nicholas Mhlanga appeared in the Messina Magistrate's Court the following day and were charged with the illegal possession of explosives.

"Upon searching the vehicle, police found eight capped fuse detonators and eight blasting cartridges stashed behind the driver's seat," said Mulaudzi. Chikambure was driving at the time and allegedly claimed ownership of the explosives.

Both men will remain in custody until their next court appearance this Thursday (17th), when they are expected to bring a formal bail application.
